| Varazze
is one of the best know breaks in Mediterranean. It is
situated in the middle of a little and characteristic
town of the Ligure coast, have two peaks very different,
one at the right part of the breakwater, the other at
the left part. |
| The
powerful and steep right wave braks with more frequency
but makes a perfect shape of the tube. The
wave’s average size is between 1.5 meters to 2.5m (5-8
feet) and works normally with south-west wind with
weekly frequency.
The best period come from
September to May, when the water has 15-25 degrees, (60’-75’F)
meanwhile the air temperature is between 5 to 20 degrees
centigrade, (40’-70’F). |

| The
seabottom is rock-like and dangerous for the presence of
some partly emerged rocks above all near the breakwater,
so those who don’t want to risk much can surf the left
wave which breaks on a sandy bottom, it is more long but
less powerful and tubeless, perfect for beginner surfer
and for longboarder. |

| In
the water is easy to find the ‘locals’ but also French, Swiss
and German, they make two thousand kilometre journeys to free
their minds with these clear and transparent tubes.
Local standouts are Ettore Burdese and
Marco Fracas; Marco was one of firstly little steps in Italy.
Today Marco use the longboard and with a big style exploit his
experience on these waves.
Ettore, instead, show his surf with
powerful and radical manoeuvres, he is the classical nineties
surfer who don’t miss the chance to do mystical surf trips to
find the world’s best wave. |
| Near
Varazze there are a lot of alternative spots with different
characteristics and conditions: Voltri, Pegli, Bogliasco, Chiavari
and Levanto’ that are in the east coast of Ligure ‘Gulf’,
Savona, Finale Ligure, Imperia, San Remo and XXMiglia’ at west.
All spots are named by the place where
are situated.
Varazze is touristic town on the Ligure
Riviera, with a lot of hotels of all categories,easy to come here
bytrain or car thanks the good connections system:The more near
Airport is in Genoa far 40 km (25
mile). |
